Fall Porch Decor

Fall is just around the corner, and I am slightly obsessed with seasonal porch decorating. There's something so home-y and inviting about a wonderfully bright and textured entry to your home. The vibrant colours of fall make me want to snuggle up with a good book and a tea.

Today is my first day of Teachers College! I'll be hitting the books and learning about what I love the most (besides fashion, beauty and interior design). If only I could look as glamourous as this lady does while doing it. I love new beginnings- they're a chance to prove to yourself that you have grown as an individual, and this new beginning is one of the most exciting ones I've ever encountered!

Detox for your Senses

My best friends (holla M!) know about my obsession with all things white. A pure white colour palate in a space is not only timeless, but is also so refreshing. Not only does it clear your mind from all the hustle and bustle in our daily lives, but it just feels so serene and peaceful. Add to the white backdrop small pops of colour, inject freshness with cut flowers, and warm up the space with different textures and patterns, and you have the perfect recipe for utter bliss.

With yesterday's nippy air and the kids returning to school, I'm ready to embrace fall, even unofficially. Sunny days, chilly nights, rich tones, layers, and warm, delicious drinks...

weekend tidbits

One ounce of the final weekend of summer was not wasted. Playing outside in the sun, new sandals for $19, a kitchsy candle holder, magnolia scented candle and racing at Delaware Speedway... what more could a girl ask for?

fallish footwear

My interest in menswear-inspired lace-up oxford "shooties" (that's shoe and bootie) has finally been quenched. I've been eyeing this trend for a few years, but I finally took the plunge after I found a pair that fit perfectly and were on sale! I bought them for $29.99, and got an additional 10% off with my student price card, for a grand total of $30.50 taxes included. Here are my new babies:

bracelet DIY attempt

I say attempt because after a few hours of attempting to create a masterpiece, this is all I ended up with:

Pathetic, right? But hey, I like to share the good along with the bad. I mean, what I ended up with is not terrible because I will still integrate it into my wardrobe, but it's so simple that a newt (newt, really?) could do it. Apparently I do not possess the patience required for tedious beadwork and finery. I am not easily dissuaded, however, and I will attempt to create something utterly fabulous before we ring in 2012, as stated in my 12 Before 2012 list! You all have faith in me, right?
